How was your weekend? My family and I had a beautiful July 4th in Dallas, Texas at my sister-n-laws. I will post pictures on my personal blog soon. Her house is right on the lake and the fireworks were beautiful there.  My 2 year old unfortunately didn’t like them as much and screamed his head off because he was so scared of the “loud noises".

PAIN is GOOD—Did I get your attention? Pain is indeed good for many things. Pain lets you know when a more serious illness is approaching… emotional pain can help you learn and grow from an experience if you let it do its job instead of fight it.

AND of course, the pain you experience as a business owner is also productive too—if you let the pain do its job. 

For instance:

  • The pain of a tight budget will force you to create solutions that you otherwise wouldn’t create.
  • The pain of a slow start will force you to get out in the trenches and begin many face-to-face profitable relationships.
  • The pain of inexperience allows you to do it differently than everyone else—sometimes this will actually be what makes you successful. There are many successful entrepreneurs who accidentally stumbled upon the next big thing because they didn’t know they were “supposed to be doing it another way”.
  • The pain of fast growth (yes, it can be painful too) forces you to quickly weed out low ROI activities.

So the next time you have an uneasy feeling in business and you want to run the other way—don’t quit—instead learn from the pain and embrace it because this process always, always provides answers.
